“It takes courage to grow up and become who you are”
I have heard a lot of people saying that being a teenager is the worst period of your life. But at the same time, many of them also think it is an astounding part of our life because it is the only time that we have to enjoy and find happiness without any burden, between childhood and adulthood. And also most people would have enjoyed a great sense of freedom. Adolescents have a craze for making friendships with peer groups and a tendency to explore a lot of unseen or unknown things in their life. Also, they have much fewer responsibilities and burdens than adults. But then why teens are falling into the black hole of depression and mood swings during these times? statistical data show us that about 20% of teens experience depression before they reach adulthood. They are lacking interest in activities, and these people can't just find happiness in their life. They might feel as they are pulling away from friends and they may cry sitting in a dark room without even knowing the reason. People may think what these teens have so much to worry about in this early stage of life. But the fact is that mental illness has nothing to do with age.
This may happen because they face different social and developmental challenges. One of them is pressure from family related to their studies, lifestyles, career, and so on. Teens sometimes fail or confuse to make choices in their lives. it is during this stage of life that they start to think of their future and career. Some of them may have a lot of opportunities in front of them and may confuse which one he/she will choose. On the other hand, some of them may not find many opportunities and they may find life harder than ever. Also, the pressure of family upon them on these circumstances makes their life much more complicated.
the second and third issues are changing hormone levels and developing bodies. Apart from these, loss of a parent, broken relationships, drug addiction, sexual abuse, lack of social or emotional support, bullying from peer groups can also make the life of adolescents worst. It is more evident to us that the sophisticated social networks and changing face of social media and advertisements have led to greater pressures on teens to, look and behave in a certain way.
But isn’t it obvious that we must not let the teens fall into the horrible dungeons where they are being targeted?
What can we do to make the teenage lives most memorable, miraculous, and fascinating?
Find the people whom you trust the most and accept the way you are and understand your emotions. These people can also help to choose the right one for you and encourage you to chase your goals. Making good social connections can help teens to learn new things and it will get rid of boredom. The concern about body and looks also affects the mentality of teenagers. Because during this period, they would become more beauty conscious and tend to maintain it because they seek the attention of people in their activities. Therefore try to pay attention and encourage them in their activities.
Sharing and making memories together with family and friends may help in refreshing their minds. So the most indispensable factor is to spend a lot of time with your loved ones. This will never let you fall in your life.
Yes, adolescence is a very crucial period in everyone’s life. This period of growth in our life has a great role in the development of our body, brain, mind, character, career, and so on. Some people think that the teenage years are the happiest stage of people’s lives. others think that adult life brings more happiness despite responsibilities.
While concluding, I can only say that the worst and greatest part of life may vary from person to person. It is us who makes our life great as well as worse. What we can do is that find happiness in the little things which can be seen around us and make every moment memorable.
And yes, this is for all the teens who may go through this article, as I mentioned above initially, fight every battle of life with utmost courage. Because only then you can grow and find uniqueness in yourself.
